WAITING FOR EARTHQUAKES is a one-night performance event by the artist Moon Ribas whose practice investigates the intersectionality of nature, technology and humanity. Moving through the thin curtains of Kiran Chandra’s exhibition Mother of Intentions Ribas will mimic the shadow play and further underline the presence of Plato’s Allegory Of The Cave. Yet, by physically experiencing the vibrations of earthquakes around the world through a sensor in her elbow, Ribas becomes even further removed from humanity than the prisoners of the cave. Instead she fully merges with nature, the earth and its powerful interplay.

Moon Ribas is a Catalan contemporary choreographer and the co-founder of the Cyborg Foundation, an international organization that aims to help people become cyborgs, defend cyborg rights and promote cyborgism as an artistic and social movement. Moon graduated in Choreography at Dartington College of Arts (England), and studied at Theatreschool of Amsterdam SNDO (School for New Dance Development). Since 2007 Moon has been experimenting with different cybernetics devices that allow her to perceive movement in a deeper way. Moon’s new research consists in developing the seismic sense, perceiving the movement of real-time earthquakes all around the world, she then translates this new sense on the stage.
